CATT Basketball Rules

(Game Rules for our Team Participants and Spectators)

 Official Clock Operation and Time:

***Please Note***

Boys & Girls 9u-12u Will Play Two 12 Minutes Halves.

Boys & Girls 13u Will Play Two 13 Minutes Halves.

Boys & Girls 14u-15u Will Play Two 14 Minutes Halves.

Boys & Girls 16u-18u Will Play Two 16 Minutes Halves.


  • Warm-Up is 3 minutes / Halftime warm-up is 2 minutes (Subject To Change by Site Director).

  • Clock will stop on all free throws and timeouts. 

  • Clock will stop on all whistles and timeouts in the last five minutes of each half of the ball game 

  • Clock will continue to run if there is a lead of 20 points. When 20 point lead has been reduced to 9 points, return back to original Clock stoppage.

  • Overtime will be 2 minutes –2nd OT is the first team to score.

  • Each team receives one additional Time out.

  • Bonus at 8th team foul

  • Double bonus at 10th team foul

ONLY TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR CAN ADJUST GAME MINUTES


  • Four-Time Outs per Game (2) Full and (2) 30s

  • Point Differential (15pts Max) – Head to Head, Point Differential, Points Given Up, Coin Toss.



Other Game Rules:


  • Ejections: If a player or coach/bench personnel is ejected from a game, they will have to sit out the next game (cannot be in the gym).

  • Free throws: starting above the low block, Playing on the-“Release”.

  • All other Tennessee High School Athletic Association Rules will be used.

  • If a coach /or spectator becomes unruly during the tournament, they will be asked to correct their behavior, and if that does not ease the situation, the coach/or spectator can and will be asked to leave the gym for the duration of the tournament, without refund. If the unruly spectator has a child on the team, the child will be also be ejected from the game. The player can return to the next game.

  • Home Team is listed first, will wear white or their light-colored uniform, and will be the official scorekeeper for the game.

  • Visitor Team is listed second, will wear a dark-colored uniform, and will be the official clock operator (Some Site's Will Have Clock Operators).

  • Our goal is to keep the game schedule running on time. All teams need to be present 30 minutes prior to game time start, games can start as early as 15 minutes prior to scheduled game time to keep the flow of game on schedule. A forfeit is declared at the end of the warm-up period prior to game time. There are no refunds for the teams affected by the forfeit.***Can Be Over Ruled By Site Director***

2 COACH’S BANDS WILL BE GIVEN TO EACH REGISTERED TEAM

PLEASE USE TIME AT THE END OF EACH GAME TO CLEAN your teams BENCH AREA AS IT IS MANDATORY!!! FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN DELAY OF GAME OR TECHNICAL FOUL DURING THE NEXT SCHEDULED GAME.
